Nissan Brings Hi-Cross Concept to LA, Says it Explores Future Crossover Design


If you're experiencing déjà vu looking at the pictures of the Nissan Hi-Cross Concept, it's because the Japanese carmaker displayed the study at the Geneva motor show in March this year to preview the next generation of the European market X-Trail SUV.

So, what's it doing on this side of the Atlantic and the Los Angeles Auto Show then? According to the Japanese carmaker, the concept "offers a bold design statement about the next-generation of Nissan crossovers".

2013 Nissan Rogue Crossover gets New Content and a Price Increase


With Nissan having already confirmed a new generation of the Rogue for next year, there was no point in making any substantial changes to the 2013 model year version of the crossover that will continue its career in the U.S. with some updates to its equipment packages and a higher price tag. Nissan to Build Next Generation Rogue Crossover in South Korea as well as in the U.S. [Updated]


As it turns out, Nissan will split production of the new Rogue crossover between its Smyrna plant in Tennessee, USA, (starting from next year), and the Renault Samsung Motors factory in Busan, South Korea, (beginning in 2014).

Analysts believe that Nissan will benefit from a weak Korean won and recent free trade deals.

The French-Japanese firm said it will invest US$160 million (€130 million) to add 80,000 units of the Nissan Rogue production in Korea and "increase cost competitiveness of a key industrial base". The vehicles will be shipped to North America and select Asian countries.
