Now That's One Lucky Son of a Gun – The Middle East Edition

When they're not practicing the illegal and reckless driving art of hagwalah, some motorists in the Middle East hone their skills in another and equally dangerous road sport, that of driving on two wheels.

While our readers have surely seen footage of Middle Eastern drivers tip their rides on their sides before, in this specific video, we witness one of the many, many things that can go wrong when amateurs perform these kind of stunts on public roads.

Watch Real Life Mad Max Terrorize an Australian Driver During an Extreme Road Rage Incident

With all the incidents filmed on Russian roads, (you can head over to Jalopnik for some of the best dashcam clips of 2012 – we're preparing our own list, too), we rarely say this about a road rage incident, but WOW.

There's road rage, there's psychotic and then there's "this windshield ain't going to stop me punching your face" kind of rage, which makes Mad Max and Toecutter look like Care Bears…

We only get to hear and watch one side of the story in this incident as the perpetrator has yet to be interviewed, or captured by the police, for that matter, but here's what went on.

Mitsubishi Thinks it Can Fix U.S. Sales with New Outlander SUV and Mirage Hatch

With the U.S. car market growing 15 percent in November and 14 percent from the beginning of the year, you would expect a mainstream company like Mitsubishi to show at least some gains, but that's not the case.

In fact, the Japanese automaker posted sales of just 3,754 cars in November, down 4 percent from the same month last year, while from January through November, Mitsubishi's has seen its sales shrink by 28 percent to 53,677 cars.

To put it in perspective, Mitsubishi's yearly sales from all five models that remain in its range in the States (Lancer, Galant, Outlander, Outlander Sport and i-MiEV) are roughly a fourth of the Prius sales (216,619 units) and about the same as the number of ES sedans sold by Lexus (48,171) in the country.

Another Mitsubishi 3000GT Dressed Up as a Ferrari Pops Up on eBay

Well, well, well, imagine that; a second Mitsubishi 3000GT coupe that has been converted to look like a Ferrari F430, though, we must say, we're having trouble seeing the resemblance.

Perhaps we're missing something here, but putting aside the air scoops positioned on top of the rear fenders and to some extent, the door mirrors, the rest of the cosmetic enhancements don't remind us of the F430.

Watch a Rally Driver Reach Speeds of up to 227km/h – 141MPH in a Forest

Sure Formula 1 and NASCAR drivers reach much higher average speeds than their motorsport counterparts in the World Rally Championship and other rally challenges, but it's one thing racing on a professional circuit with all the safety precautions that come with it, and another to do so on unpaved paths in the wild.

If you are willing to let your ears take some abuse (or just lower down the volume if you don't feel up to the task), you can enjoy a crazy ride in a Mitsubishi EVO IX R4 racer driven by Beppo Harrach at the Waldviertel Rallye in Austria.

Head of Mitsubishi’s French Network Steps Down After Calling Industry Minister a "Retard"

Each person is entitled to his or her own opinion. On the other hand, calling someone a “moron” and a “retard” is certainly not the best of manners; even more so if you are an automotive industry executive and the individual on the receiving end is a minister of the government.

Jean-Claude Debard is (or rather was) the head of Mitsubishi’s French dealer network, which is owned by Swiss group Emil Frey and is also the Japanese carmaker’s official importer in the country.

According to Reuters, Debard was quoted by French daily La Provence making the following statement about industry minister Arnaud Montebourg: “This moron, this retard, is increasing green taxes, lowering speed limits on the Paris ring road and ruining our lives.

In Kazakhstan, This is What They do to a 1992 Mitsubishi GTO

Compared to other sports car offerings from Japan in the 1990s, like the Mazda RX-7, Nissan 300ZX, Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra Mk4 and, of course, the famed Honda or Acura NSX, the Mitsubishi GTO or 3000GT hasn’t aged as well nor have collectors warmed up to it.

Whether it justifies this bizarre transformation that comes to us from Kazakhstan is questionable, to say the least.

Japanese Automakers May Slash China Production in Half as Sales Plunge Amid Islands Row

Tumbling sales can be attributed to many factors. Japanese carmakers, though, just can’t seem to get a break as since last year, they have seen their production hurt by an earthquake and a tsunami, a nuclear reactor malfunction and now, a political crisis.

As we have already reported, the dispute between the two countries over the ownership of a group of East China Sea islands has resulted in escalating protests, boycotts and even violence against anything Japanese, from restaurants to automobiles in China.

Following these events, Toyota and Nissan announced that last month they recorded their biggest sales drop in China since 2008. In September, Toyota, Nissan and Honda sales fell by 49, 35 and 41 percent respectively, to 44,100, 76,066 and 33,931 units.

Mitsubishi's Mirage of how to Increase its Sales Share in Europe

That Mitsubishi is having a hard time getting its act together in major markets outside of Japan including Europe and North America, is no secret.

At the Paris Motor Show, the Japanese automaker is showing its…new weapon to reverse slumping sales and gain a more solid foothold in the popular supermini segment with the brand-new Mirage.

Mitsubishi says the slogan it came up for the car is "Less is more", and by that, it means the Mirage is smaller (3,710 mm long) but at the same time, lighter (from 845 kg or 1,863 lbs), more fuel efficient (4.0 lt/100km or 70.6 mpg UK) and lower priced (not yet announced) than its rivals, which in theory, include the VW Polo and Fiat Punto.

The Manchurian Candidate: Anti-Japan Protests Good News for German Automaker in China

One man’s loss is another man’s gain. That’s the way it has always been and that’s the way it is today, especially in the corporate world.

Case in point: China’s anti-Japan protests, which seem to turn uglier each passing day. Toyota, Nissan and Honda have been forced to shut down their plants after attacks on some of their operations and dealerships.

Nevertheless, Chinese consumers still buy cars. If they shy away from Japanese vehicles, then they will probably turn to other brands from nations with which they have no quarrel.
