Brabus Building a Sprinter Super Ambulance with AWD and a 5.5-liter V8

Due to its life-saving role, an ambulance has to be fast enough to arrive as soon as possible to the place of an accident or a medical situation, with the same applying for the drive back to a hospital.

Exactly how fast depends on many factors including the type of vehicle.

While we don't have all the details in our hands yet, given the Brabus brand's previous achievements in the tuning industry, something tells us that its new Special Project Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Ambulance for the desert won’t disappoint when it comes to speed.

Brabus Selling 6.5 Sports Sedan Based on the W124 Mercedes-Benz E500 with Just 252km on the Odo

The W124 is if not the best, one of the best mid-size models ever to be produced by Mercedes-Benz. It's subtle yet timeless styling remains fresh today, almost 30 years after its presentation back in 1985, and let's not forget that this Mercedes became famous for being built like a tank.

There was even a performance version named 500 E from 1990 to 1993 and E500 from 1994 to 1995, which was developed in close cooperation with Porsche. In fact, Porsche actually hand built the cars at its Rossle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany.

The E500 was powered by a specially tuned 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at 322hp (326PS) at 5,700 rpm and 480Nm (354 lb-ft) at 3,900 rpm, allowing for a zero to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 260km/h (162mph).

Brabus Bullit Coupe 800 is a Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe with a V12 on Steroids

The Smart Fortwo-based Ultimate 120 that we told you about in our previous post may be a special treat but the…800-pound gorilla at Brabus' 2012 Geneva Motor Show stand will no doubt be the Bullit Coupe 800.

With this limited production model, Brabus promises to offer supercar-shredding levels of performance under the guise of a C63 AMG Coupe. Of course, nothing comes for free and the Bullit Coupe 800 commands a supercar price - €378,000 or US$507,000 to be precise.

Brabus engineers started by replacing the regular C63 AMG Coupe's 6.3-liter V8 engine that develops 451hp and 600Nm with the same 6.3-liter twin-turbocharged V12 found under the hood of the limited run Brabus E V12 special, which in turn borrowed the engine from the S600.

Numerous alterations were made to the powerplant itself as well as the body of the C-Class model in order to fit the V12 in the engine bay. The highly modified 12-cylinder unit churns out an amazing 800PS (788hp) at 5,500rpm and a tire-shredding peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), which is electronically limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

New Brabus Ultimate 120 Takes the Smart Fortwo Cabrio to the Next Level, but at a Hefty Price…

When it comes to Brabus, it's all about power and speed regardless of the size of the vehicle and both are true for the German tuning firm's latest creation named the Ultimate 120, which is based on the Smart Fortwo Cabrio and will make its world premiere at this week's 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The name refers to both the output (120PS or 118bhp) and the number of cars Brabus plans to produce but not to its price that is set at a mind boggling €45,900 or about US$61,600 a piece!

Smart to Display Brabus Electric Drive at the Geneva Motor Show

Normally, the name Brabus is associated with high-powered Mercedes cars that can smoke their tires with a stroke of the pedal. Even when Brabus got its hands on the Smart ForTwo, the purpose was to turn the diminutive two-seater into a pocket-rocket.

Yet the latest model bearing the Brabus moniker will emit no smoke whatsoever. Certainly not from its tires and not from its exhaust pipe either. This is because the Brabus electric drive is based on the all-electric, zero emissions version of the ForTwo.

Fortwo Driver Makes a Not So Smart Parking Job

One of the joys of owning a Smart Fotwo is the ability to park in places more fit for a motorcycle than a car, something that comes in very handy in congested cities all over Europe as well as other parts of the world.

However, that doesn't mean you should park anywhere you can because you may be in for an unpleasant surprise upon your return as this owner of what looks like it's the Brabus edition of the ForTwo found out, presumably in Paris, France.

The driver evidently parked the car over a motorized bollard which had enough power to lift the Fortwo partially in the air. Video follows after the break.
